(+27) 43 422-0057Chippa Holdings's businesses rely heavily on people, and our experienced professionals provide us with a key differentiator in today's knowledge-based economy. During the year, we accelerated our investment in our human capital management capabilities facilitated through a number of initiatives ranging from leadership assessments to job profiling, and the identification of strategically critical positions. We are also rebuilding our human resources foundation to provide consistent people policies and practices across the group.
Transformation is an integral part of any South African business and to maintain our corporate citizenship credentials we look for ways thatmeaningfully contribute to the country’s socioeconomic development and national imperatives. At the same time, our broad-based black economic empowerment (B-BBEE) scorecard rating directly impacts our status as a preferred supplier at airports and for insurance companies, and our ability to gain access to fleet and government business.
Our efforts aim to ensure the meaningful participation of black South Africans in our businesses, supply chains and communities..
Our approach to environmental sustainability is to drive efficiencies in terms of resource conservation, cost reduction and optimal waste management. The group's sustainability management system collates, processes, tracks and communicates data from business sites nationally. This covers all operational sites that are owned, partially owned and leased by Chippa Holdings. The system allows for effective reporting and assists with the sharing of climate change issues and initiatives between divisions.

Chippa Holdings’s strategic, leadership, operational, financial and governance imperatives continue to evolve in concert with the more demanding environment our organisation faces. Our strategies as a parent are supportive and precise in adding value to subsidiaries. Our leadership pipeline must be strengthened and transformed to enhance succession and diversity. Our operations must reach new standards of efficiency and productivity in a digital world. Our financial performance must ensure adequate risk adjusted returns as we enter less developed jurisdictions. And our governance structures must resist bureaucratic paralysis as they respond practically to an increasing regulatory burden in more countries.
The capabilities and resources devoted to sustainability are part of, and not an adjunct to, our everyday efforts. These are the cornerstones of Chippa Holdings’s sustainability.
We constantly conduct comprehensive external analysis of our operating environment, on environmental, social and governance strategy. We constantly review initiatives underway and highlight areas of improvement.
